Blanche Would Be Jealous....

Came across this bad boy on good old Craigslist last week...

OK, now use your imagination - the seller posted this picture - it's title was something like "Hideous Green Sofa" which of course intrigued me... and to my surprise I found it quite awesome! (minus all the crap on top of it!)

Very Golden Girls-esque, no? Similar to an all time fav:

The asking price was $10 and it had a pull out bed! Someone beat me to it though... I was thinking about it going in our little ugly room that I just painted completely BLACK - yup - floors & walls, but probably not the ceiling... I think this green looks FAB with black! (and some gold accents)

Oh well! We put a Queen bed back there for now and an office for The Hubs... ahhhhh....the ever evolving house...

So does anyone else see this "hideous green sofa" as much, much more!? Or am I just a tacky girl trying to relive the 80's??

Nice Craigslist Find!...

While perusing the almighty Craig, I came across this guy:

It is definitely not the regular fugly sofa I come across on my hunts that's for sure! But I am not really looking for a sofa. BUT strange coincidence, the same day I found this, I was digging up ideas for a client and found this image!

Yup, look closely there at the sofas. Same awesome design! I love the arms. Someone buy him and recover him and bring him out in all his glory please!

Side note: 1st parade (and my favorite!) Krewe De Vieux is tonight! Yippeeee!

DIY for Latest Project...

This week I bought a fun project off Craigslist... for $30 I got this totally funky retro high back chair that I plan on recovering and more than likely painting.

This chair just screams personality to me and I could instantly see it's potential. Heck, for $30 it will be a great reupholstering project. So I went to my local fabric store for some sort of inspiration as far as fabric but of course no luck! (Living in NYC with all the great fabric selections has really put a damper on trying to find anything here in New Orleans!)

Then I came across a post on one of my favorite blogs, Elements of Style and got some great ideas! I might reupholster the chair with some hand painted fabric! I stenciled our bedroom drapes (read post HERE) and it was so easy and cheap. I think I'll give it a whirl!

Miss Thang Kellly Wearstler painting some fabric.

This inspiration photo got me thinking I should paint some fabric. I want to do some sort of stripe to add even more drama and height to the already high back chair. Now the question is... something silky? or a cotton to paint on? I want it to have a watercolor washed look and I think a silk would do it better than cotton....

Decisions...decisions!!
