Cherokee Nation!!....Bywater Bust

Click this Youtube video to get into the mood for today's post!  ;)

If you've been following my design obsessions, you know I've been in search for a bust for a while now - and I am now proud to say a Cherokee Indian BUST is now living in my foyer!! haaha.... I did want a "normal" bust that I could spray paint and put a wig on, mardi gras beads, etc. but this stud will do just fine!

He came from work, he was intended for a clients home but the client said no way!? How could you not want him?! (I'm kidding, I can totally see the weird/creepy factor)

He has so much detail and is so serious I could never imagine defacing him with wigs or beads.... and they wouldn't fit.  :(  I also love that his head dress mimics the sunburst behind him.

Sooooo what do y'all think?! Is he creepy or cool to you?! It took The Hubs a couple of days to warm up to him but now he likes him.

OK OK OK... This is my last bust post - I hope!...

Seriously, I was at Michael's Crafts minding my own business and this dude starts talking to me and flashing red scary eyes!! But I didn't care because he's a BUST!!

Maybe just maybe I'll be able to find my bust in the Halloween decor aisle??

OK, just googled Halloween busts and this one came up:

For $40! I could spray him all white... and he's funny... is this 100+ degree heat making me crazy?!

Bust A Move!...

Uh ohhhh... I'm in trouble... A new shipment just arrived at the Shop and of course this guy comes in tryin' to look all cute:

Not sure if you're up to snuff with my BUST OBSESSION but yes, it's a problem.

I just love him! He's ginormous!! Although I wouldn't dare spray paint him or put a glitter lightning bolt on him... I need a cheapo plasticy type one that I wouldn't mind defacing...

Ah well... at least I can stare at him in all his glory all day while at work!

My Favorite Ugly Painting...

I picked up this painting from a thrift store a couple of months ago and fell in love with it! Apparently I'm the only one though...

The Hubs can't stand it! Which I think is kind of funny... I love the colors in it! SO vibrant and it's especially quirky because there is a little mexican man with donkeys randomly in there?!! I think it's pretty funny.

So do y'all love it or hate it?? It's OK, I'm used to the haters... Some people just don't know good art  ;)

White Knights...

Do I need a knight of armor?? NOPE. But I've been looking at this stud on Craigslist for over a week now trying to get my mom to buy it! (I currently have no place for a life size knight - but she does!)

I know it might be a sin but I would spray paint him all white and put him in a foyer.... I think it would look fabulous!! I don't have an extra $350 laying around to buy a knight... darn I wish I did!!

Here - I dug up two pictures of different foyers that a white knight would look smashing in...

Get rid of this dumb little table and put a big ole white knight there instead!

This big tall vase is OK... just a little safe and boring... white knight = POW!

Do you think I'm delusional or do you see my vision??? To my mother in particular - buy this knight and I'll buy it from you in a couple years!!

I Must...I Must..I Must Increase My Bust!

I have a confession. I have been yearning for a large bust for quite some time now. Now, now, get your head out of the gutter people! Around 18, I sadly came to the conclusion the Lord did not bless me with that kind of bust... this is more of a sculptural matter if you will...

This big guy is in Kelly Wearstler's living room and he is MARVELOUS!! BUT I don't think I could find one that big in my price range...

My obsession with finding a bust all began a couple of years ago when I saw this bullet hole in the face bust by Banksy! Don't ask me why - just liked it.

The bust hunt then kicked into high gear when I read a Sneak Peak on Design Sponge of Jimmie Martin and Rick Schultz's place.

I love, love, LOVE their place!! It is so my style. Now, I can appreciate a lot of different looks but I love this place - at least when I'm in my black mode. (then I switch to my all white and calm mode)

Anyway, back to the bust. Isn't this funny?! They took such a traditional look in design and turned it on its head. (sorry, I had to!)

Well people, I finally found one that's just the right size and somewhat affordable. At Restoration Hardware of all places?!

Isn't he a beaut?! Oh, if I got him of course I'd spray paint him (not sure what color yet) and totally copy off of the KISS bust above and paint a black lightning bolt over an eye... then put black glitter over that. Yup. I said it. Spray paint and glitter all up on that bust! Then around Mardi Gras time he'd of course have some beads to top it off...

See, this is the wild psycho side of my love of interior design. Sometimes we all need to loosen up and have a sense of humor!

Having this wild man in my foyer let's people know just what kind of house they're entering... I have the perfect spot too - right where that orchid is. He would fit right in!

Love it or hate it? Do you have some secret design love that's a little wild too?!
