Our Dream Chair is SCORED Thanks To Craig!....

Some people may have dream cars, dream handbags, dream vacations... not us. The Hubs and I had a mutual dream of a black leather Eames lounger. (thank goodness I married a guy who went to school for Industrial Design! ha!)

These bad boys run 3 - 5 THOUSAND so we weren't planning on owning one for a loooooong time. And I have been happy with our $75 knock off. But the brown knock off bothered me because I felt like the room was too brown with it. And it's a little wobbly. I digress....

Here's what I found on Craigslist yesterday!!!

now residing in our living room...

Black Eames Lounger!!! What?! Whaaaat?! I couldn't believe it! I snagged this baby up for $400. I happened to book our rental unexpectedly for the same amount about 10 minutes before I found him so I didn't feel too guilty. And we've agreed this chair is our Christmas present to ourselves!

I'm SO excited! This one is so much more comfy than our other one too. The Hubs is attached to the brown one though so for now at least we have TWO of these chairs in our living room! They look like they're about to duel. I wish i could get a good pic of them but it's dark and rainy day = awful pictures!

What do you think!? Do you have any dream pieces you're dying to get your hands on?

Another One Got Away.... But Fancy Clothes Take The Pain Away...

Stopped by an Estate Sale this AM and was planning on scooping up these awesome guys:

And of course someone swoops in before my eyes and grabs them!!! UGH!!!

They were $20 for the pair! Whaaaaaaa! Wouldn't they look awesome cleaned up with a modern black shade!? I'd plan on only keeping one, I feel like it would be too much to have two....

BUT I did scoop up some AMAZING vintage clothes! I luvs fashion and this woman had the most amazing vintage clothes. I love to study how the pieces were made - it's said all the time but clothes are in no way made the way they used to be!

Here's what I got!

Adorable baby doll orange sherbet dress - it's SO cute!! It has little rhinestones at the tops of the bow too! I picture wearing this with a neutral motorcycle jacket and flats.... just to counter the froo froo - ness of it. The colors are gorgeous in person.

Simple black dress.

Slip. I love the detail at the bottom.

Totally 60's brocade with crystal detail cocktail dress! I have a black tie event coming up and this will be perfect!

Timeless, great fashion will stand the test of time much like a timeless great interior!

DO any of you hunt for awesome vintage finds?! I browse thrift stores but they never have anything great like this sale I went to. I wish I was a 0 and I could've gotten a whole new wardrobe! ;)

Craigslist Score & Bedroom Ideas...

The Hubs and I have decided to short term rent our rental fully furnished once our current tenant/BFF moves out in April. I will more than likely list it through AirBnB.

I've been scoping out our competition and know once I get through decorating it we'll be able to rent it pretty regularly but also have the option of keeping it unavaliable if family or friends from out of town want to visit! PLUS let's not forget it will be a fun new design project!  :)  AND it will give me an idea of what it's like running a small B&B... (little fantasy of mine!)

Here is a picture of the latest Craigslist score for the bedroom rental - 2 matching bedside lamps... for $10 each!! I  love the shape of them and will more than likely spray them another color - you know I can't leave anything alone... spraypaint is the answer to everything!

They have a cool, retro, Jonathon Adler-esque quality I like about them.

I'll more than likely get 2 MALM 3 drawer chests as the nightstands...

My mom "thinks I could do better" which might be true but I don't want anything too expensive in there - it is a rental afterall and the 3 drawers are very practical for storing clothes, etc. unless of course I come across a great deal on Craigslist  ;)

Anyway, here's some inspiration for the room thanks to good ol' Pinterest!

Love the color of the lamps below...

So what do ya think?? Do you like the lamp/dresser combo? Have any of you out there ever done the short term rental thing? I'd love to hear advice if you have! My parents rent out their condo in Florida and haven't run into any issues.... so I'm hoping we won't either!

Latest Lighting SCORE!....

I found this awesome midcentury modern looking brass chandelier at my local Habitat for Humanity salvage store for $5!! YUP. FIVE DOLLARS! I know it's not as snazzy as some other ones but for $5 I'm not complaining...

I need to remove the clips and will more than likely gets bulbs similar to this:

Here are some I dug up that kinda look like mine... BUT both of these guys go for over $3,000!!! I'll take my $5 guy please! :)

I'm not sure where he will go yet but I knew I had to get it!

Best Score Ever... Etagere

While I was living in NYC, I managed to scoop up my best score to date - a chrome and brass etagere from  Housing Works - a thrift store now with 12 locations throughout New York City. Every couple of weeks, each location would set up a new vignette and have an online auction selling the goods. It was always so fun to see what they came up with for the windows!

Well, I won this bad boy over five years ago for a mere $275! I feel like it is such a timeless and versatile piece.

Look closely, you can see my magnetic dragon fly - it looks so real!

So my favorite thing to do to find out if I really scored big on something is to look for similar ones on 1stDibs and sure enough there are many similar versions with hefty price tags!

$1,200

$2,900

$8,650 (pair)

It just makes my day!
