Landscaping Love...

I have finally found exactly what I would love to do for landscaping the front of our house! I love the landscaping below. It's simple, low maintenance but also oh so lovely...

This was taken in front of a home in the French Quarter.

Below is right where I want to do this landscaping...

We could pretty easily do this too - just build a little wall from all the free bricks we have, plant hedges, add some monkey grass and to top it off find a beautiful planter and put a large statement plant in the center.

Hmmmm.... who feels like building me a little brick wall!?

What do you think?? Do y'all prefer formal landscaping like my inspiration or do you lean toward wild gardens?

hey girl - I love both but that would look great with the room/wall you have.

I'm somewhere in between! When I finally have time to do my yard, I want curved lawns, edged with old bricks and a mix of tropical and classic plants. It all has to be low maitenance though - I don't have time for any other sort of garden! I love your inspiration pic and think it would be perfect for your space. xx

My husband and I took the Bywater tour on Sunday. I didn't realize those were your "feet" when I pointed them out to him as we passed your home. I like a more formal garden and think that your idea is great. I would add window boxes as well and maybe paint the trim around the windows and doors a color. Maybe an uplight to showcase the middle statement plant. So many inspirational homes to see in NOLA.

I love your inspiration pic....would be simple and elegant, plus easy to maintain. just don't let any vines creep up your wood siding....it's already a bitch to keep our wood homes from rotting in this climate!

I like both, no favorites, but as I discovered what fits me in real life is whatever is hardy, no maintenance, and drought tolerant.

Aaaaand, I love, love, love that idea for your place. Get to it!
